Tomorrow is International Women's Day!
Michael Moore was awesome last night. There were hundreds of people outside the church who couldn't get in so he talked to them for a bit before speaking to those inside. Aimée got us seats in the second row so we got a close up look at him. He is a very funny man. The crowd was rolling and I had to wipe away tears from laughter at one point.
He told us of the story of how his book came to be. It included a publisher who almost pulped 50,000 copies of his unreleased book because it wasn't in line with the 'current political climate'. You see, his book was scheduled to hit the stores on September, 11. Michael refused to alter his book in any way despite the attempts of his newfound publisher to censor him. A librarian heard his story and alerted her librarian friends who in turn told their network of librarian friends and soon enough, the publishing company was swathed with emails and letters demanding an explanation. The publishers gave in and put out the book proclaiming it would be an absolute failure. Not true. The book went straight to the top of the charts, hitting number one on Amazon and other bookstores. The name of the book is 'Stupid White Men'. I'm going to purchase and consume my copy tomorrow.
