What Are Dioxins? And What Are They Doing In My Food?

2002.04.25 . .

Cancer, diabetes, birth defects, and problems in child behavior and development are all linked to dioxin; it enters your body through food, accumulates, and never leaves.

Which foods will protect you? Which should you avoid? What should every parent know to protect their children? What cooking methods and utensils will increase your risk of exposure? Which will minimize that risk?

Edward K. Fujimoto, DrPH, MPH, CHES will answer these questions at the May lecture of the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii, and will explain how you can protect yourself and your family from dioxins. Dr. Fujimoto is the Wellness Manager and Clinical Preventive Care and Lifestyle Medicine Specialist at Castle Medical Center.

This event will be held at the Ala Wai Golf club house, 404 Kapahulu Avenue behind the Waikiki-Kapahulu Library on Wednesday May 8 at 7:00 PM.

The event is free and open to the public; food samples will be offered. For more information, call 808-944-VEGI.
