First Masters in Hawaiian Language To Be Awarded. History will be made next Saturday at UH-Hilo as the first ever Masters degree in Hawaiian Language and Literature will be awarded. My friend and colleague Hiapo Perreira will be the receipient. His thesis, a massive work covering the legend of the Kaua'i hero Kawelo, was done completely in Hawaiian.
