Last night, smoke detector

Last night, for some reason not related to smoke, the detector in our bedroom decided to start BEEPING. I awoke in an instant, and then lunged for the ceiling, grasping the device with both hands, pulling with all my might. Wires were dangling and the beeping menace quit only when the battery had been yanked.
Why did it go off? Why can't I get a good night's sleep?

It's official. I'm moving forward with plans for The Coral Reef Report. I just registered coralreefreport.info and will move the site over in a few days. Now that I have the help from the extraordinary Marty Dawson, coral reef explorer and enthusiast, I want to develop the site further.
The Coral Reef Directory needs some attention. What started out as a personal directory of reef resources will eventually turn into a well thought out, tight list of the best reef resources on the net.
I'll keep posting to the weblog portion, keeping the reef news flowing. I'm also experimenting with adding a reef feed from Dive News.
