Broward County Project Will Bury Acres Of Living Reef

2004.01.07 . .

Broward County, with sanction from the Army Corp of Engineers, is about to approve a project to rebuild Broward County beaches with sand dredged-up from offshore. This project will result in the immediate burial of two acres of living reef and another 8+ acres over the next few years, as sand dumped on the beaches drifts back into the ocean. The work could also destroy endangered sea turtle nests and discourage female turtles from approaching shore to lay eggs. And the project will bury 13 acres of near-shore habitat that supports juvenile turtles.

South Florida boasts the only natural barrier reef in North America.

An idea for the dock

2004.01.07 . .

I wish I could install something for OS X that would monitor each application's usage and then constantly shift my dock icons around based on that figure. I'd want my most used apps dock icons to float left the more they are used.
