CORAL Discussion Board changes

2004.05.21 . .

CORAL's new discussion board has been online for about a month now. It's been getting good participation and today we have made it a bit more logical by dividing up the board into various forums. I invite you to check it out and join in the discussion.

Using personas to think through arguments

2004.05.21 . .

Scoble: "Anyway, one of the things Alan taught me is how to use personas to think through software design arguments. Here, watch how I use his persona idea to try to convince a software design engineer that an RSS news aggregator is going to be important."

I'm in the process of conjuring up a few user personas for a site I'm redesigning. It's a fun experience to put yourself into another persons shoes and visit the site you are creating. Like Scoble, I too am keen on pushing the RSS train. To whom? The ocean world. I'm finally starting to see sites like Shifting Baselines and Oceana starting to weblog. That's very good news and I hope to work with them more and more in this area. My personal goal is to get any and all coral reef organizations to make RSS feeds available. As far as I know, I'm the only one blogging about coral reefs on a near daily basis and I want that to grow to many, many more by the end of next year.
