I Love Radio .org: Mo' Better Podcast Listening!
Tod Maffin: "I'm one of those people who likes to delete emails when done reading them. Likewise, I want to be able to delete podcasts or other audio content from my iPod after I've listened to it. (Are you listening, Steve Jobs?!) That way, I have an active list of 'Things I Haven't Heard Yet.'
While there's no way to delete content directly on your iPod, I think I've come up with a way that might be even better!"
Canton's Electronic Noizums
I just subscribed to Canton's Electronic Noizums RSS feed in iPodder. Now I just sit back and let his tunes arrive on my iPod. This is the latest one to arrive:
"(1997) Opening sample is from a Hitchcock film, I believe. Jazzy drum 'n' bass with a fantastic rhodes solo by Benjamin 'Zoggo' Lewis. The vocal samples through the piece are from one of my favorite films, 'My Dinner With Andre.' (This is a 90 minute film of just two guys having dinner and an amazing conversation. Weirdly entertaining.)"

Nicecast adds full custom MP3 settings, more
"Princeton, NJ-based Rogue Amoeba Software on Wednesday announced the release of Nicecast v1.7, the latest version of their Web radio broadcasting software for Mac OS X. Using Nicecast, you can Webcast a radio stream that anyone in the world can listen to. The new release adds support for full custom MP3 settings and also features an enhanced VoiceOver plug-in with an adjustable buffer to help reduce latency. This new release also contains an updated Effects window and support for Cocoa Audio Units, and more. A free update for registered users, Nicecast 1.7 now requires Mac OS X v10.3. Nicecast costs US$40 to register."

Okay, I'm convinced. Podcasting is going to be huge.
I got an email from Canton this morning that put a huge smile on my face.
This morning at the CD Cafe where Netanya has a morning job (good coffee! cheap CDs! free Wi-Fi!) I decided to poke through my statistics. My eyes bugged out of my head when I found out that last week 2500 songs were downloaded from my original music page. In the real world, that would be something like 250 albums. It's the kind of news that makes me feel like I'm totally obligated to go out and make new music, since there's people actually listening to it. (or, at least, downloading it -- which isn't the same thing, I know.)
Two weeks before that, there were only 1000 downloads per week. What changed? Donovan introduced me to Podcasting, and I've had a "subscribe to canton" syndication feed up for a couple of weeks now.
Okay, I'm convinced. Podcasting is going to be huge.
