Guess what arrived in my PO Box today?

I miss Kirsty MacColl

My favorites; The Kite album, Titanic Days, Walking in Madison, There's a Guy Works Down the Chip Shop Thinks He's Elvis, Can't Stop Killing You, and of course her lovely background vocals for Morrissey and others.
I've been playing her stuff a lot lately, for some reason much more than usual. Something about her voice and musings keeps driving me to listen. If you aren't familiar with Kirsty MacColl, check her out. Very good. I miss her honest, interesting, funny addition to our musical palate.
I first learned of Kirsty MacColl when her Kite CD was first out. My best friends played it for me and she's been an integral part of my past ever since. We would listen to Kite over and over again. It is a captivating ride that I highly recommend.
She's been gone from this planet for a few years now and I find myself hanging on to her music, trying to really appreciate it entirely, unlike I used to think I did. It seems more precious nowadays than ever.

Kat Eggleston podcast interview on WNUR Folk Show
I found this podcast via my referrer logs. Definitely worth listening to this interview with Kat Eggleston. Beautiful music, engaging interview and some good trivia about her father's role on Gumby.
"On July 11,2004, we sat down with Chicago singer-songwriter Kat Eggleston." (Via The WNUR Folk Show.)
