Road trip to Vancougar

I'll be heading up to Vancouver from L.A. sometime in the next few weeks. I'm borrowing my folks VW Vanagon so my ride is gonna be stylin'. Lots of prep for this trip like hooking up a cell phone, looking into Wi-fi hotspots so I can get some work done, figuring out who to visit along my route and where to stay.
I'll be going it alone, leaving girlfriend and cat behind. Maybe I'll drop in on an ice factory... good place to get some thinking done! I know one thing, I'll be taking my time. I plan to do some hiking in the redwoods, and maybe I'll even bring my bike.
Today's accomplishment was getting cell phone enabled. My friend gave me his old Sony Ericsson T226 and I signed up for a Cingular "El Cheapo" plan. $40 for 400 minutes/free weekends. Should work for my plans. Main thing is that I didn't want to get locked into any cell phone plan. Not right now, anyway.
It's been fun researching all the mobile information out there. I can't wait to hit the road with my trusty Titanium G4, otherwise known in Rendezvous circles as "Tin Machine." Got any road warrior tips for me? Let me know. Gonna be on my path? Let me know.
