Welcome to iceplant radio by DJ dBug
My challenge: Posting to iceplant radio while on the road
iceplant radio is a Radio UserLand weblog that lives on my Apple Cube in the basement. I used to have a static IP address but I don't any more. So, how am I going to update my weblog when I'm traveling? Well, I'm considering a few options. I could just post an entry that says to check in on my other site. Or, I've considered moving Radio off of my Cube and onto my iPod. Or, I might just email my posts using the MailEdit tool by David Brown. Hmmmmm... I'm so used to having a static IP to call home to that I'm now a bit perplexed.
I'd opt for MailEdit most likely but the last time I tried updating my weblog this way from Santa Fe, something went wrong and a bunch of mangled text showed up instead of my posts. Not good. I'll probably try to get this working over the next week before my trip and email David with my questions as I think this is the easiest option for my needs.
Route 66.... lead the way ROUTE 66 Geographic Information Systems
More on my road trip... I'll be handing the directions over to Route 66 on my Mac. I promise not to take my eyes off the road while I'm driving! This will be my first time using GPS navigation and I'm looking forward to the experience.
The cell phone is working out great. I called my buddy Michael in Washington today from Lake Merrit in Oakland. The sound was superb and I'm really enjoying the freedom.
Now I've got to figure out how to tap into the whole T-Mobile Wi-fi thing. One question... do places like Starbucks allow me to plug my computer in while I surf? I always seem to run out of battery sooner than I'd like.
