Yucatan, ho!

2005.03.05 . .

I'm heading to the Yucatan to help my good friend, Canton, work on his plot of land. Currently, it is more of a jungle plot than a livable area and that is why we're heading over; to begin clearing the land, creating a slightly developed camping area for visitors and making shade structures and such.

Lake Bacalar

I plan to spend much of my time working hard, helping out however I can. I'm also going to take an excursion or two, exploring the Mayan ruins of Pelenque as well as snorkeling or scuba diving off the coast of the peninsula in the Caribbean Sea.

The one modern convenience I'll be bringing is my iPod. I wasn't going to bring it with me until I discovered the Solio portable solar powered charger which will hopefully arrive before my departure. This little gadget should work great in the sun drenched area I'll be residing during the month of April.

No more posts will arrive on iceplant radio until my arrival back in the mainland, end of April or early May. I'm very excited about this trip. A little anxious to be sure but really looking forward to doing some soul searching and traveling. Something I've not really done much of in a number of years. No longer in my comfort zone, I am taking some risks, putting the computer away, and setting out for a new adventure. The one song that will surely accompany all the podcasts on my iPod is Ramblin' Man by Lemon Jelly for it not only makes me feel good to listen to but it gives me inspiration to get up and go.

Be well.
